Group 3 - Stigmergic Fibers [SF]
+ Tool Sprayer V0.1

Stigmergy is a mechanism of indirect coordination between agents or actions.
Stigmergic Fibers tackles the prospect of fiber aggregation under the influence of varying environmental and mate- rial properties to produce controlled boundary and special conditions. The project was initiated by research on plant fiber and biology. To extract information from the behavio- ral methodologies of plant growth and structure, various ex- periments were conducted on differentiated growing condi- tions.
Interest in the self-organization of root systems to cope with different environmental conditions led us to think of ways where we can mix material properties and environmental constraints to generate form; a recipe that combines mate- rial and environment together, to form emergence. A way of generating stigmergic behavior under various operational- fields.
We explored interesting self-organizational patterns of the fibers when sprayed at objects under the effects of fluid dynamics. Thus rather than a top bottom design process of preconceived forms, becoming editors of constraints, gener- ating not the form itself but the process in which it is being produced. Using the same material but with varying densi- ties we are able to achieve different conditions of stiffness or softness, opacity or translucency.
