KUKA LIGHT EXPERIMENTS

[KE]

Exercises:

1) The objective is to understand how the six axis robot works, by developing different lighting patterns.

2) The objective is to add  customized functions to the definition of light patterns. This can be developed within the plug-in definition or by editing the code text.

Our group combined both techniques.

Exercise 1.1:
This file, was developed, with the following components / characteristics:
-Polyline divided into large amount of points -Point-To-Point movement
-Orient input ordered “randomly”
-Speed: Medium
Images attached:
-Long exposure picture, composed by four white leds.

Exercise 1.2:

This file, was developed, with the following components / characteristics:

-Polyline divided into short amount of points
-Line movement
-Speed: Fast

Images attached:
-Long exposure picture, composed by four white leds.

Exercise 2.1 to 2.4:

All of the files, were developed, with the same curves draw in Rhinoceros, and  the same path created in Grasshopper+PRC:

The only difference between the files, is the sequence of pulse for turning the lights on and off.

-Polyline divided into short amount of points
-Line movement
-Speed: Medium

Long exposure picture: first try-out, the polyline was rescaled, and then runned again for obtaining better result (2.1 to 2.4 pictures).

Exercise 1.3:
This file, was developed, with the following components / characteristics:

-Polyline divided into very short amount of points
-Point-To-Point movement
-Speed: Fast

Images attached:
-Four long exposure pictures, with different amount, color and pulse for lighting.
A) Image on the extreme right side, is composed by two while leds.
B) Image on the top rigth, is composed by two white and one green leds.
C) Image on the middle right, is composed by two white leds that are turned on during the entire path, and three green leds that turn on and off repeatedly.
D) Image on the bottom right, is composed by two white and three green leeds.

Exercise 2.1:
Image attached:
-Long exposure picture, composed by three white leds. One of the leds is always turned on, it is located in the center of the Kuka plaque.
The leds that are not constant are the ones that were programmed into the Grasshoper + Kuka PRC file definition.

Exercise 2.2:
Image attached:
-Long exposure picture, composed by three white leds. One of the leds is always turned on.
This image, is composed by longer pulses - longer than the previous image - between the lights on and off.

Exercise 2.3:
Image attached:
-Long exposure picture, composed by three white leds. One of the leds is always turned on.
This image is composed by a majority of points with lights off than on.

Exercise 2.4:
Image attached:
-Long exposure picture, composed by three white leds. One of the leds is always turned on.
This image is composed by a majority of points with the lights off than on, as the previous one.
The difference with the previous one, is that the permanent led on, is turned off; therefore, the polyline path becomes abstract.

Exercise 1.4:
This file, was developed, with the following components / characteristics:

-Polyline divided into medium-large amount of points
-Point-To-Point movement
-Speed: Medium

Images attached:
-Long exposure pictures, composed by different amount, color and pulse for lighting.
A) Image on the extreme rigth, composed by two white leds that are turned on during the entire path, and three green leds that turn on and off repeatedly.
B) Image on the top right, composed by one green led, that is running on and off during the entire path.
